Continuing my painting adventure, I’ve been blessed enough to share some wall space in Halifax’s first cool 7 days a week merchant co op, Plan B. The space is located at 2180 Gottingen St, next to the Company House & Menz Bar. Upon entrance you’ll be greeted by the cool sounds of Black Buffalo Records. You’ll see Kevin with a welcoming smile that shows his passion for music and that he knows his stuff. You’ll be impressed with the selection of vendors ranging from clothes & jewellery from Toxic Blossom to an eclectic mixture of unique finds with a feeling reminiscent of the “creepy curiosity shops” you’d see on tv, visit the Monkeys Paw.. Maybe games and comic book memorabilia are your style? Third Eye Blind has a decent selection of collectible toys and games for all you fellow geeks out there. Need a last minute costume? Check out the goth section that has sprung new life in to past Neptune theater plays, visit Morrigan LeFay’s Emporium for unique mystical gift ideas. Tattoos and piercing are also available featuring tattoos by Donovan Jackson and piercings by Nicole Nails Wilcox. I believe it’s this Nicole who also has some of her own jewellery and beautiful floral designs for sale (my apologies if it’s not her). I know I’ve missed a few vendors, there’s a lot to take in when you’re there and honestly I’m too distracted by the records lol
The Grand Opening (although currently open) is Oct 31- hours are 11am-9pm. There is currently construction on a cafe/lounge area that will host big screen tvs, games and wifi access.. If you’re like me, find yourself wishing there was an alternative to the over commercialized over priced shopping experience, you’ll love Plan B. The people are friendly, the space is also dog friendly which is great for Miss Lucy who can now accompany me on my shopping excursions. Although, truth be told she’d rather be in the costumes than the records lol. This is going to be a “place to go” I think for many years to come. Great job guys!
